Meet Khelsey and Micheal Daniels of Dorothy’s Desserts, in Decatur, Georgia.
Dorothy’s Desserts creates specialty whole and mini cheesecakes based on family recipes from Khelsey’s grandmother Dorothy. Among the dozen or so innovative varieties on offer are red velvet, blueberry crumble, and caramel apple crisp cheesecake.
“We called up Grandma to get a recipe for a dish I could take to a work potluck — the pie was gone before I finished a cup of coffee. From that moment, we knew we had more than a potluck dish; we had a business,” said Khelsey about the origins of the couple’s company. Now, she added, “We hope to jump start [it] to new heights, with access to multiple distribution channels and bigger and better opportunities to grow.”
